Ingredients:
1 Large Raw Banana/ Balekayi
1/2 cup Horse gram / Huruli / Kudu
3-4 Red Chillies
3/4 cup grated Coconut
Pinch of Turmeric
Small grape sized Tamarind
Small lemon sized Jaggary
1/4 tsp Chilly powder
2-3 Curry Leaves
Salt to taste
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
2 tsp Oil
Recipe:
Soak horse gram in water for about 8-10 hrs. Wash it properly and pressure cook by adding salt and water.(5-6 whistles)
Add tamarind and little bit of water in a bowl, mash it and keep it aside. Take off only the fiber from the outer cover of raw banana. Chop raw banana into small pieces and put it in a vessel containing water. Keep it aside for about 5 mins. Remove chopped raw banana from water and add to a vessel. Add jaggary, salt, tamarind water, pinch of turmeric powder, chilly powder, water and cook it well. Once it is cooked add cooked horse gram and mix well. Put 1 tsp oil, red chillies in a pan and fry them for about 1-2 mins until it gives nice aroma. Put grated coconut, fried red chillies in a mixer and grind it to smooth paste by adding sufficient amount of water. (If it is frozen coconut use hot water while grinding.) Add this ground masala to the vessel containing cooked banana and horse gram, bring it to boil and stir well. (Add water, salt if required.) Add mustard seeds and oil in a pan. Once it starts spluttering, add curry leaves and add it to Gasi. Mix well before serving. It goes well with Rice/Dosa/Rotti/ Chapathi/ Poori.
